Transition of Leadership

I want to touch base to make you aware of the leadership succession which is happening at the Oregon School Nurses Association. Our typical governance calendar would include a meeting of the General Membership at our spring conference. Due to the cancellation of that conference, our next scheduled general meeting will not happen until the fall of 2020. Therefore, in order to follow the typical calendar for succession in the absence of a spring election, with enthusiastic anticipation, I have offered my resignation effective May 1, and the Board has accepted it.
According to OSNA bylaws, in the event of the resignation of a President, the President Elect ascends to fill that role, vacating the role of President Elect. To fill the vacancy in the role of President Elect, the Board must appoint an interim (at the recommendation of the President by a vote of the Board) who will serve until the next general election of the membership.
Therefore, our Board welcomes Heather Godsey into the role of President of the Oregon School Nurses Association, and we are pleased to share that Brianna McFarlin (of Madras) has been appointed as the Interim President Elect. She has been active in our Association for quite some time as a member of the Membership Committee, of which she took a leadership role last December. We are grateful for her willingness to jump into this new role.
It has been my greatest professional pleasure to work with all of you in the role of President, and I look forward to much exciting work in my role as your Immediate Past President and in different roles in the future.
Please stay home and stay well,
Fondly, Wendy
