Strengthening the Essentials: OSNA Spring Conference 2022

School nurses, who have been so pivotal supporting our students and staff throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, will finally have the opportunity to come together to celebrate our profession at our annual conference: Strengthening the Essentials! Kicking off a two day event which will address many domains of school nurse practice, Janice Selekman DNSc, RN, NCSN, FNASN, author of the fundamental book, School Nursing A Comprehensive Text, will deliver a Keynote address entitled "The Essential School Nurse." Her vast knowledge about school nursing along with her engaging, humorous presentation style has made her a favorite nationally renowned speaker.

Please join us as we celebrate school nursing and examine some of the essential underpinnings of school nurse practice. Workshops on "Interpreting School Nurse Scope and Standards" and "Racism as a Public Health Crisis" will anchor day one. On day two we will explore policy and clinical knowledge topics. In addition to a presentation on "How District Policies Can Support the Work of the School Nurse," speakers will address the clinical topics of concussion/TBI and diabetes in connection with resources and tools which support school nurse practice in the management of those conditions.

Exciting News for OSNA Members! Through a grant from the Oregon Department of Education, OSNA members who participate in this conference will receive a copy of Janice Selekman's book, School Nursing A Comprehensive Text! Other participants will be able to purchase the book during registration to receive it at the conference.

Credits: Pending approval from the accrediting agency, OSNA intends to offer 12 hours of nursing continuing preofessional development (credit hours).
