EVENT CANCELED - OSNA Spring Conference, Building Capacity: Identifying Risks and Fostering Resilien

Starts:  Apr 16, 2020 07:00 (PT)
Ends:  Apr 17, 2020 17:00 (PT)

UPDATE - THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELED TO COMPLY WITH OREGON'S CURRENT SOCIAL DISTANCING ORDERS
As educators around us think about “disrupted learners,” social emotional learning, and trauma informed care, they often make an assumption that the most important solution to the challenges facing students is to increase access to behavioral health professionals. We know that is an oversimplification; the solution requires teams including school nurses working shoulder to shoulder with behavioral health colleagues and educators. To prepare nurses for this work,
Spring Conference 2020 addresses factors which create adversity for our students, teaching school nurses to identify risks and foster resilience in our students.  The line up of speakers begins with former NASN President Nina Fekaris, leading off a 2 day conference which will deliver 11 CEU’s. In addition to clinical topics including diabetes technology, TBI, and psychogenic nonepileptic seizures (PNES), participants will explore factors impacting student health complexity, including social determinants of health and trauma. Participants can expect to develop skills which will enable them to foster resilience in their students in the face of adversity.

To ensure that OSNA conferences address the health of all students, this conference will offer the first in a recurring Spring Conference feature addressing the issues of marginalized populations. Participants will explore opportunities for school nurses to support the social and emotional wellbeing of transgender and gender diverse youth.

In the idyllic setting of Oregon Gardens, nurses will enjoy fresh, Northwest inspired cuisine as they connect with school nurses from across the state. Do not miss this superlative educational opportunity! REGISTER HERE!
